Argentina decriminalises marijuana

The Argentinean Supreme Court has struck down some of the country's drug laws, ruling that it is unconstitutional to prosecute and punish private marijuana use:

The Argentine court ruled that: "Each adult is free to make lifestyle decisions without the intervention of the state."

Supreme Court President Ricardo Lorenzetti said private behaviour was legal, "as long as it doesn't constitute clear danger".

"The state cannot establish morality," he said.

Its a solid, liberal decision, and one which has the support of the government. They're expected to pass amendments defining a personal possession threshold in the near future.

The full ruling is here, for those who read Spanish.
